Greetings, MARC Members and Friends of MARC!
The time for our next club meeting is rapidly approaching... we will be
meeting this Thursday, 21 September 2023, at 6:30 PM MDT at our usual
location, Murray Fire Department station #81 located at 4848 S Box Elder
St (35 W). This week we will be having a discussion session to talk
about the recent failures in communications and how they were dealt with
by amateur radio operators during the fires in Maui, Hawaii. Please
come prepared to talk about what happened, how amateur radio operators
responded, and what we can learn from their experiences.
Prior to the meeting, we will have a brief "check-in" net on 147.600
simplex (no tone or offset) at 6:00 PM (this net is usually over within
just a few minutes, so if you don't hear anyone go ahead and throw out
your call... someone might still be listening). This is channel 31 in
the standard load and is the designated ARES channel for Murray City.
These "check-in" nets are primarily to help us confirm that we have
programmed our radios correctly and are able to communicate in an
emergency even if our primary frequencies are not available.
We will not be recording this session, but we will have the Zoom up and
running for those who are unable to join us in person. Please feel free
to connect to the Zoom session and participate in the discussion. Zoom
information is below.

Note that there will be a club board meeting after the regular meeting
at 8:00.
