Greetings, MARC Members and Friends of MARC!
The time is quickly approaching for our next "Beginner's Topics"
meeting. This week, our topic will be "Making your First QSO". If you
remember, a QSO is a conversation on the radio. If you're a new ham,
and you're nervous about keying up the radio for the first time, this
class will give you the guidance you'll need to have confidence pushing
that PTT button.
Our meeting will be on May 4th, starting promptly at 6:30 PM MDT. We
will be meeting in the community room at Murray Fire Department Station
#81, located at 4848 S Box Elder St (35 W). Immediately prior to the
meeting at 6:00, we will have a brief "check-in" net on our club
repeater, 223.96 MHz, negative offset, tone 103.5 Hz.
Also, don't forget that the club elections will be held this month, on
May 18th. You will need to be a member of the club to vote, or to put
yourself forward as a candidate, so if you have any interest and you're
not a member of the club yet, consider signing up. You can do so at
https://www.murrayarc.org/membership-options/ (scroll down to find the
form). You do NOT have to be a resident of Murray to join MARC.
In our elections, we'll be filling the four board positions: President,
Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. So far, we have had one
person sign up for each of the President and Vice President positions.
If we do not have anyone interested in the Secretary and Treasurer
positions, we may not be able to continue operation as an incorporated
entity as all four positions are required, so if you have any interest
in serving in any of the four positions, please let me know and I will
get your name(s) on the ballot.
We also have a number of optional positions... if you are interested in
serving in any of these positions (they are not necessarily exclusive)
please let me know. These positions are: Training Committee, Newsletter
Committee, Web Control, Elmer Coordinator, and Equipment Czar. If you
have suggestions for other additional roles within the club, please feel
free to propose them.
