You have to be careful when using an iron not to get localized glazed spots.
I had used an iron before I got my drymount press, it does work. The
problem with the iron (I have had similar problem with a tacking iron) is
that the heat is not controlled accurately enough and because you are moving
it over the print the heat and pressure is not uniform throughout the print.
So you may end up with glazed (shinny) areas on the print. Not always
noticeable when you look directly at the print, but it can be noticeable if
you look at it from an angle. I once had a printed displayed for 6 months
until I walked by it and by chance noticed the outline of the iron that was
used to tack it down. It was quite disappointing...

Thanks for helping me more importantly.

I hang them with clothes pins from my shower. I'm not doing that
anymore. If I do, I am going to use plastic clothes pins because the
wood ones leaves marks.

But I went today to my local photo shop and they had a print dryer
for $45USD. I didn't buy it because it gave me an idea.. I'll just load
my dish rack with dishes and put the prints in there. Once dry, I'll
stack 'em under books.

I am waiting on dry mount tissue and release paper to come on mail
order. But my Swix waxing iron for skis does not get anywhere near as
hot as a regular iron. I am pretty sure it's going to work. I just have
to get the wax off first.. ;-)

    Thanks again to all,

    J
