Yes: leaving aside the bandwidth issues, you force many people with no
interest in the thread to either strip the attachments or keep the
(ptentially large) files in their mail system.

Here, attachments sent to mailing lists end up in the weekly backups of my
mail system; over time enough idiots sending unwated posts to lists can add
up to a reasonable amount of wasted disc space (or time, if I have to
manually strip them all).
