Oo-er John, now you've got me worried :-(
You may have seen the other thread I started on this list, called "I
knew I shouldn't have done it". That was in connection with the
Softload version. Having been reassured by Dave Higton and Steve Fryat
that running the Flash version was not the big worry it seemed to me
to be, I've finally gone and done it. Now I'm very much back to
wishing I hadn't, I'm afraid. The actually process is very brief, I
don't know, maybe 3 or 4 minutes. I did it around 2pm today. It is now
5:10pm and I'm still here, 3 hours later messing about trying to sort
out problems it has presented me with. I don't need this aggro. I just
want to get back to using my machine, not interfering with its innards
which I neither understand nor am interested in. I really do wish now
that I had not bothered to do this. I'm sitting here trying to cope
with typing a message that I can't even see the whole of all at once
because it's so huge, so keep having to either move the MPro window or
scroll it. This is no fun at all.

I have no idea where to begin to try and locate the error. I am not
even slightly technical. Before replying here, the only thing I could
think to do was to look once more at PreDesktop, which I've just done.
I can't see anything there that makes any sense to me. The only reason
I was able to spot the original 'bad' line was because it referred to
running the softload and I had seen in replies to my previous postings
that I should make sure that I removed softload before flashing.

I would presume the same - but that's all it is, a presumption - I
wouldn't know for sure at all.

When you say: "In any case, it is the disc load that is complaining..
this is NOT a rom based item" are you confirming that this UniServeFS
problem is not caused by the flashing of the ROM? If so, I guess that
this would help to eliminate possible causes. However, I have
(literally) never had this error message before, so there must be some
kind of connection with the flashing, however tenuous.

Please help, I'm getting very fed up here - not to mention in trouble
with my wife for not spending time with her this Sunday afternoon!
