Actually, that makes a LOT of sense. Several maker's are using ActiveX modules to 'read' what's installed on customer's systems like that (with permission, of course). Belarc might show you that info, but I haven't used that in a long time. I prefer SIW (System Information for Windows) for its thoroughness, but there are other favorites used by other members of the group that do similar things and can provide a wealth of info about a system. You can get SIW below. http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html Virtual memory looks much better now. :O) Event Viewer entries may be old, so it's hard for me to know how much weight to place on things without some idea of their age. Those entries may be related to the scare you had yeaterday, or they may just be a fluke. Your best bet is to wipe the contents of the Viewer and see what comes up from this point on. To wipe a section, select the name of the section in the left pane and then go to Action > Clear All Events. You'll then be asked if you want to save a copy of the data about to be removed. Of course, that choice is yours to make.
