Yes, but it's relative. Relative means that the values get normalized to
the maximum/white. So any error in the absolute level is ignored.

Example:

Instrument A measures:

        100.0 cd/m^2 at 100%
        35.0  cd/m^2 at 50%
      that's a gamma of 1.514 [log(35/100)/log(.5)]

Instrument B has an error of 10%:

        110.0 cd/m^2 at 100%
        38.5  cd/m^2 at 50%
      that's a gamma of 1.514 [log(38.5/110)/log(.5)]
