Jeff, I think you're on to my (well, XAP's + my own internal embelishment)
grand unified theory of GMPI.

Ooh!  We can rename GMPI to GUPI - the Grand Unified Plugin Interface.  GUPI
reads so much better than GMPI :)  (that was OT, and only half serious.  If
we get into a naming discussion again I'll be very embarrased :)
