I think the answer here is to reject books of inferior quality.
Upgrading doesn't necessarily mean better results as others have said,
since other factors such as the scanners used and the scanning ability
of the people doing the scanning also come into play. Some people just
do not do a good job of scanning, whether it's because they don't hold
the pages still or straight, or whatever.
