Evan,
You are admittedly one of the nicest people to newcomers in the area. That
is without question and
I applaud you for it. We too, love and welcome the public and new comers.
However, I don't know
to what Southern Cali you refer, but over the years I have seen the
treatment of newcomers be
anything but "encouraging" . We have seen people and their dogs , new
to the American show ring,
berated, and belittled. We have seen them given the cold shoulder.
I would only encourage a new comer in the area to go, if he or she were
under the protective wing of
you, or perhaps Ken and Myself, to keep away the stuffy, nasty people.
There are handling classes in the area, we used to attend, but don't
anymore for the same reason...
a little "coven", and most are not welcome...not even us old guys. LOL
So be it.
