First, you might consider getting a new magenta filter. The filter on my 20 old De Vere was very faded. Focal Point in Florida carries them. Second, you might try extending your development time. What was your image emergence time? For fiber paper, you should develop for about 6 times the emergence time. For years I had been developing with Zone VI developer, which is similar to Dektol, at 1 + 3 for 2 minutes @ 70F, as per Picker's instructions. While the new magenta filter helped, my maximum contrast was still quite low (i.e. grade 3.5). Then I read in _Way Beyond Monochrome_ about the 6x suggestion. Following this suggestion required my going to 4 minutes of development. That upped my maxium contrast with Ilford FB MG paper to 4.5, a significant jump. -Peter De Smidt ============================================================================================================= To unsubscribe from this list, go to www.freelists.org and logon to your account (the same e-mail address and password you set-up when you subscribed,) and unsubscribe from there.
