I made some prints last night from the negatives developed in a modified version
of the Gainer developer mentioned in yesterday's post. Fog is nil, contrast is
just what I wish, and the grain is very fine. I use a 1:1 mixture of propylene
glycol and TEA as the solvent for the concentrate.

Or, use a modest boric acid solution, say 5-10gm/L of water as diluent to lower
the pH and anti-fog is not needed. An equal amount of sulfite may be necessary
to restore PC activity. PC/TEA diluted 1:50 in water as Gainer suggests has a
pH of greater than 9.0 and that's where the fog comes from.
