That is precisely my aim also. I am basically lazy and want a developer that can be mixed from stable liquid concentrates very quickly that has at least a year shelf stability. Since I like acutance and don't mind long developing times, I use developers highly diluted (penidone < 60ug/L; ascorbic acid < 2.5gm/L) the shelf life should not result in a noticable loss of activity over this time. And, like you, I want it to work like Xtol. Don't want much, do I?
