Slight update: This morning my machine failed to boot up despite my using a USB keyboard connected to the external hub into the rear if the machine. The USB keyboard was (literally) a pain to use anyway[1], so I've gone back to using my much-liked left-handed keyboard. Given that the problem has now cropped up when *not* using the left-handed keyboard I guess that eliminates it and its PS2-USB adaptor as being the primary cause of the problem. It looks like either the rear USB sockets of the ARMiniX or/and the hub I've been using are causing the problem to arise. I have another externally powered hub I've 'liberated' from elsewhere so am giving that a try to see if it make any difference. At present I only have the keyboard on that hub, and the mouse, printer, etc, on the other. However the liberated hub isn't very good so I think I'll need to get a new one. That said, it now occurs to me that the reason I think it isn't very good is that my better half had problems with her keyboard and mouse on *her* ARMiniX some time ago. So maybe the rear sockets in particular are very fussy/variable in some way. Or maybe this is a 'feature' of the USB driving by the OS? Jim [1] After only about 10 mins of continuous use I started to get the old discomfort in the wrist that led me to switch to the better keyboard many years ago. -- Electronics http://www.st-and.ac.uk/~www_pa/Scots_Guide/intro/electron.htm Armstrong Audio http://www.audiomisc.co.uk/Armstrong/armstrong.html Audio Misc http://www.audiomisc.co.uk/index.html --- To alter your preferences or leave the group, visit //www.freelists.org/list/armini-support List-related queries to info@xxxxxxxxxxxx
