I'm just conducting and interesting experiment. I have replaced my usual keyboard with an alternative. Using this I *can* now once again have my ARMiniX boot up with the keyboard and the hub it goes though plugged into one of the rear USB sockets! The machine also boots up quickly. This seems to confirm that for some reason my ARMiniX struggles to cope with my usual keyboard. So I think I may need a new keyboard... or perhaps an alternative hub or similar. The one I've used for many years is unusual in being a 'left handed' keyboard.i.e. the number pad is on the *left* of the main qwerty. This helps me avoid RSI and gets the keyboard where I want it with the mouse on one side and the numberpad on the other. The keys are also good quality. (The replacement I'm using for this test has keys that are much stiffer and noisier so would be a pest for long use.) It is also - now - unusual in being PS2 with an adaptor for USB. The adaptor also has a mouse socket. I now leave the mouse socket unconnected as I have an excellent USB mouse. So the question is if I can get a new high-quality 'left handed' keyboard, or alternately a new PS2/USB adaptor that might allow the one I have to work OK again via the externally powered USB hub. The puzzle is why my good keyboard etc *have* worked OK with the ARMiniX until recently, and are still OK with my Linux box and Iyonix - all via the same adaptor and hub.
