DPMI is DOS Protected Mode Interface. It allows DOS programs to access all the
memory in a system, as well as CPU functions that are not available in "real"
mode. If you've heard of Windows 3.1 running in "Enhanced Mode", you can draw
a similarity...in fact, DPMI was introduced by Microsoft for Windows 3.0,
sometime about 1989.

On December 9, 2008, Bastian said,"As for SSL and DPMI ... I have no idea
what these acronyms stand for."

SSL stands for Secure Sockety Layer and is supposed to prevent malefactors
from screwing up on line commercial operations.

As for DPMI, perhaps someone more knowledgeable can explain its functions
and operations.
