But I don't. I don't take those conspiracy theories seriously, simply because it did not TAKE a conspiracy to kill battery cars. The battery did that all by itself. And besides, did anyone bother to calculate by how many times the US electric grid would have to be multiplied if any significant number of cars would become battery powered? It would be many times more than we have now. Is anyone prepared for that? I dislike hybrids quite a bit. They seem to offer the worst of both worlds. Batteries, and still you have to deal with the internal combustion engine. And the actual real-world fuel economy, if you check that Tesla white paper or Car and Driver, is no better than diesel. Interestingly, Car and Driver says that the Prius is more successful than the Civic hybrid. Why? Because your neighbors will know how wonderful you are if you own a Prius, but they'll not know with the much more ordinary looking Honda hybrid unless they bother to read the small print. Said another way, the Prius makes a more compelling fashion statement.
