Except Symbian. It was the only phone OS that had good enough realtime
support to run the baseband stack _and_ the user-facing stack at the
same time on the same CPU core.

In symbian it is either:
- 2 separate CPU running 2 different OS (Symbian and RTOS)
- 2 CPU integrated in one package running 2 different OS
- 1 CPU shared between 2 different OS
- 1 CPU running Symbian with EK2, which hosts the baseband stack

AFAIK it is not the real-time support, but the requment, that the
baseband have to be certified in some country. You don't really want
to re-certificate at every OS update.
