In other words, PC sales are 0.07 of phone sales. And that excludes
tablets or embedded Linux, such as routers.

Linux has 2% of the tiny fraction of the computer market that are PCs,
but of the bigger market of ARM devices, phones, tablets, routers,
etc. -- of *all* the smart things controlled by a CPU running a
general-purpose OS, Linux has over 85%.

Who *cares* about the desktop?

there’s no reason at all to impersonate another os. there’s no competing with 
windows at being windows and nobody uses desktop linux. there’s no reason to 
have tons of users as a goal, this system is small, the team is small, we’re 
niche. it’s a system worth falling in love with, there’s so much beauty here 
and so much heart the team has poured in over nearly twenty years. it doesn’t 
need to be big for any one of us to love it.
