Because this is what free software is about. It's lots of people doing
something that interests them, for fun. At least until the point where
it got useful for big-business cloud computing, then companies got
involved. But they only pay for boring enterprise stuff. Not desktops
and so on. That is why Linux desktops are quite poor.

If you are that bothered, start to learn. Choose the right language
and programming is eminently doable for blind coders. There are quite
a lot of professional blind coders. I have one such colleague.

to a next level in usability for average mainstram computer users.

So why should the Haiku developers care?

It is not all about popularity. It's free. It won't make them any
money. It will just cause them to be smothered in support requests.

Try a thousand days work each by a thousand people. That is a more
realistic figure.

They all will need jobs for those three years.

Who do you think is going to pay for a thousand salaries for
highly-skilled professionals for 3 years?
