Toastmaster: Pattie Apple Theme; Halloween
Halloween originated in Ireland.
Announcement: She started at the club level and won both Evaluation and
Humorous speech contests. She moved on to the Foothills Area contest and
won both again. She moved on to the Division Contest and won the
evaluation contest. She will be representing Front Range Toastmasters at
the District 26 contest in the evaluation contest. She is our very own
Jennifer Dunne! Congratulations and SHINE ON.

contestant. Difference between evaluation and judging. Why judge? Know

General Evaluator: Jennifer Dunne
Evaluator #1. Bill Farrand on Jeff. Monkey story, abstract concepts, good
analogy. Story too long, use a shorter analogy. Fidgeting with ring,
distracted from message. Met goals.
Evaluator #2. Katelynn Stoll on Luis. Good vocal variety and tone of
voice. Pauses to get everyone's attention. Good descriptions - sea water
cocktail. End of speech on adventure and souls. Would like to hear
message throughout the speech.
Evaluator #3. Alan Wong on Robin. I recapped Robin's speech. I failed
Robin in the evaluation. My excuse is that I did not take off my secretary
hat and put on my evaluation hat. To make up (because I'm secretary) here
is a "recap" of what my evaluation should have been.
Robin wore pants during speech to demonstrate seriousness of speech.
Excellent alliterations with constructive criticism and educational
edification. Great use of handout with judge's guide and ballot to show
what judges are looking for. Would love to hear more personal experiences
on judging and why you would give one contestant a higher mark and another
contestant a low mark. Great use of stage and voice. Audience was engaged
because the topic related to all of us. Great speech because it was
educational and inspired us to judge. Great call to action.

Describing roles - explain importance of role and why we do this, be that
monkey. Richa, four type of table topics, Halloween theme of food and
prompting word of the day.
Bill Farrand - recognized objectives. Well aware of time.
Katelynn Stoll - started with pause, encouraging specific examples.
Alan Wong - Recap not evaluation. Too much content, no tips on how to
improve.
Dirk - great inspiration. Fabulous group of people who like to have fun.
Ribbon Winners: Best Table Topics - tied Jason, Robin, Luis, Jennifer, and
Jonathan.
Best Speech: Luis Estrada
Best Evaluator: Katelynn Stoll.
Best food (pulled pork) and best costume: Dirk Kittredge as President
Trump with Hillary Clinton clinging to his feet. "Leave me alone
Hillary".
There were twelve members and no guests. Pattie was an excellent
toastmaster and kept the meeting moving along. It was our Halloween
meeting. Toastmaster Halloween will always be special to me because it was
my very first toastmaster meeting that Robin and I attended two years ago.
(seems just like yesterday). Jennifer was toastmaster that evening. Kathy
was a greeter. Colettte was a beautiful (ugly) witch. Richa wore a
beautiful (beautiful) mask. Dirk was a beautiful (interesting) woman.
Luke was wore a tie and he was falling man. I should have dressed up the
following week and tell the group that I thought everyone dressed up every
week. What a fun group thinking that everyone dressed up every week. That
was a great meeting two years ago and I'm so glad to be a part of something
so special. Congratulations to all the ribbon winners and a special pat on
the back to Jennifer Dunne. Best of luck at the District 26 contest.
