Glo,
    Life got in the way and they were basically abandoned.  Not permanently, 
but I have yet to get back to them.  At this point, I've piecemeal covered 
most of the stuff that would have ended up in them, except for the step by 
step I had planned to add for at least one backup program.  Since you've 
reminded me of this, I'll try to get to that part, at least, over the next 
couple of days.

    As for your personal situation, do you still have the failed hard drive? 
There are recovery services that will analyze the drive, determine why it 
failed and repair it well enough to recover the data on it again.  These 
services aren't cheap, but it may be worth the cost when the data is this 
precious.
