> "So what will happen if the Iraqi elect the wrong person?" > > There is no 'wrong' person. Phil isn't acquainted with US policy on incorrect elections. There's also the wrong religion. We may soon enjoy the irony of Bush attending the inauguration of a Shiite mullah. There's more irony in store; a Shiite mullah will very likely abolish democracy (because it is a secular rationalist idea) and declare Sharia (Islamic law based on Koran). Before: The USA had a secular CIA client in power. After: The USA toppled its own client and created the conditions for a fundamentalist Islamic state. Speaking of which, Mr. Saddam is still in US "custody." Will he be tried? Will he have an opportunity to defend himself in a trial? Will he discuss who else shares the credit with him for coming to power and holding power for so long? yrs, andreas www.andreas.com ------------------------------------------------------------------ To change your Lit-Ideas settings (subscribe/unsub, vacation on/off, digest on/off), visit www.andreas.com/faq-lit-ideas.html
