Perhaps I spoke too soon. I am now getting the same boot disk configuration error. This time as I was resuming from putting XP into Hibernation. After a 3 or 4 three-finger-salutes and entries to setup and the boot menu the drive magically reappeared and I was able to resume as normal. My next day off (Friday), I will dig back into the case and take a closer look at other cables and plugs and sockets (Oh My!) I don't think this is a "hard drive" problem so much as a cable or other external problem. Is that reasonable thinking? At least until further inspection suggests otherwise.
