I read somewhere, I think written by Gman, that changing the default 
program install folder to a different location would impact only 
programs installed after the change and that the previously installed 
programs would still work as normal.  That was most likely in an XP 
thread and not Vista so the change may be different there. 

Your warning was probably there.  And it was probably overlooked.  Once 
I saw the process to change it, the reckless maverick took over and 
warnings be d%&*ed.  I never realized that all the shortcuts to launch 
previously installed programs used the variable %program files% instead 
of the absolute reference to C:\program files\ . . . .

I tried editing the shortcut on one of them and it still balked.  Thats 
when I just copied over the folders.
