event to be held at the Hampton Inn on Thursday, October 21st from 8-noon.

will be some fundamentals, reasons why websites are so critical for

announce a
Candidates Forum for Saturday morning, October
23rd from 8:30am to noon. The location will be
the
meeting room of Lakeside United Methodist Church at 420 First Street,
beside
Tannery Dam. Registration, coffee and donuts begins at 8:30 am with
questions at 9:00am. First on the agenda will be the candidates for US
Congress: Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson will meet his
challenger Michael Pipe. Then State Representative, Matt
Gabler and his opponent Frank Straub will speak. Mr. Jay Philippone,
owner of Priority Communications will be the moderator for the event. Questions
will
be prepared in advance – none will be taken from the audience.

candidates,
please forward to the DuBois Chamber for inclusion. The format will
provide for timed responses and/or rebuttals to all questions. Advance

HalloWickedWeen, a new event brought to you every weekend (Fri, Sat & Sun) in
October by Scenic View
Recreation on Rte.
322 (across from Thunderbird Restaurant). Lil Goblins Grove, ages
2-10,
offers crafts, stories, games prizes and hay rides for only $5,

pm. For the older crowd, WOODZ of WOE – the Haunted Woods with

Project
Update for Week of Oct. 18
–The
following information is an update for PennDOT’s Hospital Avenue/Dixon
Avenue realignment project in DuBois for the week of Oct. 18. All
work is
weather dependent.
·
Motorists
are
advised to watch for slow moving and stopped vehicles through the
entire work
zone. The overall project
will
re-align Hospital Avenue with Dixon Avenue. Work includes roadway
widening, new traffic signals, and improved access to DRMC. The job is
scheduled to run through late November of this year. DuBois
Business College
will be hosting an Open House on Saturday, October
23rd, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you have not visited our
location
at One Beaver Drive, stop by and check us out. This is a time set
aside for
the public to meet our faculty and staff and ask questions about
programs,
financial aid, admissions, etc. Refreshments will be served. An
exhibition of photography submitted by students, staff, and faculty of Penn
State
DuBois will be on display at the Winkler Gallery of Fine Art
beginning
with a reception on from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on October 23, at the Winkler Gallery.
The public
is welcome to attend the open house exhibits, enjoy the art displays,
and
interact with artists. The exhibits on campus and at the Winkler
Gallery will
remain on display through November 30. Dinner and a
Movie,
Abbas Coffee House, Community wide event, all ages welcome, come for
dinner, come for dinner and a movie, or come for take-out. But we hope you will consider coming for fun,

Toastmasters
group meet the 3rd Wednesday of each month at noon at DuBois

PA Wilds is “Cashing-In on Geocaching”-
There will be a conference for people interested in this high tech
scavenger
hunt that explores the connection between tourism, technology and
nature.
The conference begins with registration at 9:30 am at the Emporium
Country Club

Murder
Mystery Fundraiser is set for
Saturday, November 13th

the DuBois Country Club. This year’s murder involves Lucy, Ricky,
Fred and Ethel! Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased from

C/J Drug & Alcohol Commission or the Greater DuBois Chamber. This
a
unique and different way to spend a Saturday night with friends, so get
the
gang together and call for tickets – this is a sell out every year!
Proceeds benefit the C/J Drug Free Communities Coalition. The Friends of the DuBois
Public
Library are sponsoring a basket raffle during the month of
November. Gift baskets will be on display at the library beginning November 9. Tickets will
be available
for $1.00 each and winners will be announced at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 19. The proceeds
of this event will
benefit the DuBois Public Library. If you would like to participate in
the event, create a gift basket which includes a book and various items
related
to the subject of the book. It is also helpful to include a list of
those
