Will Your Business Help??  The DuBois Chamber is asking for your help as we
join the 'Month of Service' scheduled for Clearfield County during the Month
of January.  Sponsored by Clearfield County RSVP, this month's collection of
food and money will be divided among the many food banks in our county, to
benefit those deserving people in our county.  Many schools, churches
libraries, etc. will have collection boxes for canned foods.  We are asking
area restaurants to provide a collection jar for monetary donations toward
this project.  As people donate they may put their names on paper hands to
be displayed in that restaurant.  The DuBois Chamber has a supply of
'Helping Hands' and collection envelopes.  If you are out for dinner this
month, please look for the Helping Hands Jar to help area Food Banks!  If

Tuesday Morning - Please join SHRM for our January 2011 meeting!  The
meeting will be on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at  The DuBois Diner,  located
at W. DuBois Avenue (across the street from Harley-Davidson).  Registration
will begin at 8:00 a.m. followed by a delicious buffet breakfast.  Our
presentation will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will conclude before 10:00 a.m.
The topic for January's meeting will be "Who is GINA and Why is She Tweeting

MIXER to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of radio station Newstalk 1420 -

A "Comedy Show Fundraiser" will be held on Saturday, February 12th beginning

Headline Comedians are $15 per person-no tickets will be sold at door, so
purchase your tickets are DuBois Nursing Home, TJ's Lounge at Clarion Hotel,
or Giancarlo's (Downtown and Mall).  There will be drink and meal specials,
a 50/50 drawing  and Chinese Auction.  Proceeds benefit 2011 Alzheimer's

Downtown DuBois Revitalization Groups Offering Engraved Bricks Downtown -
Interested in owning a piece of history?  The Downtown DuBois Revitalization
Group has recently implemented a program to sell engraved bricks to generate
revenues for the sustainability of the revitalization program.  To be
installed on North Brady Street at the sight of the downtown kiosk, each
brick paver is 4" x 8" and will be engraved with up to two lines (14
characters per line).  The cost for each brick is $75.00.  Anyone may
purchase bricks to engrave with their own names or the names of the members
of their immediate families. You may also want to purchase bricks in the
names of your children and grandchildren, laying the groundwork for younger
generations of your family to become part of the history of Downtown DuBois.
Even further, you may choose to bricks as memorials, inscribing them in
memory of loved ones whose lives were touched in some way by DuBois.  When
completed, it will serve as a permanent piece of sacred, historic Downtown
DuBois and will be visible to thousands of visitors each year. In addition,
you'll also receive a beautiful certificate of recognition, suitable for

The DuBois Area Honor Guard is a vital asset to our community. They provide
Final Honors at Veterans funerals, Community support, and Patriotic
activities. What many of you may not realize is that you can be a part of
this fine organization ! The Honor Guard is always looking for new members
to help support their mission.  To become a member, you do not need to be a
Veteran, just someone who wishes to Honor those who have served, be willing
to learn, and able to attend events on a regular basis. Regular monthly
meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm in the
DuBois American Legion ( although they are not officially affiliated with
the Legion or any other Veterans organization ). Training is provided, as
they are an official Department of Defense provider.  If you think you might
be interested in learning more please feel free to contact Commander Mike

The American Cancer Society Daffodil Days are coming soon and volunteers are
needed:  Presale Coordinators are needed to take orders within their
Business/Company/Church in February.  Then submit to the American Cancer
Society.  Orders will be delivered during Daffodil Week - March 14 - 20,
2011.  Volunteers are needed to assist with selling Daffodils at locations
throughout Clearfield County during Daffodil week (March 14 - 20, 2011).
Materials and instructions will be provided.  Volunteers just show up at
their confirmed time.

Programs at Cook Forest State Park -  Saturday, January 22 at 930am - 'Otter
Watch' Please bring your binoculars and spotting scopes to the Park Office
for a driving tour to otter hotspots along the National Wild & Scenic
Clarion River.  This is the prime time of the year to witness otter
activity.  Chances are good to observe otter sign such as slides, tracks,
and carp kills along the banks of the river.  Hot chocolate will be
available at the Park Office to warm us up.  (1.5hrs)

Saturday, January 22nd at 1200pm - 'Winter Equestrian Father-Daughter Tour'
Please meet at the Silver Stallion Stables for a unique equestrian
interpretive father-daughter tour through the winter wonderland of Cook
Forest.  We will travel through the pine orchards of Forest Drive, then
venture deep within the Forest Cathedral.  This is an excellent time of year
to observe a variety of animals and their tracks from the common white-tail
deer to the elusive and seldom seen fisher.  Cost is $100 per person which
includes basic riding instruction, a wide array of discussion on
environmental topics and a scenic campfire meal  prepared by a local Chef.
(Vegetarian options available).   Participants must be at least 12 yrs of
age and weigh no more than 250 lbs. Pre-registration by January 17th is
required, and is limited to 8 People. A Visa or MasterCard will hold the
reservation.  A 25% cancellation fee for any cancellations 48hrs prior to
