Whatever today's number is, the only thing that
matters is the trend, looking downstream. This
discussion reminds me a lot of the angst about
stations beginningtheir DTT transmissions on
schedule, whenever that was (2002?). It was a
foregone conclusion that there would be stragglers,
but things worked out anyway.
As the built-in receivers drop in price to
consumer, the monitors will become extinct.
There's just no reason to buy a monitor when
the integrated set costs the same or, sometimes,
less.
