Which doesn't matter to me one whit, since I get my music from Rhapsody. In other words, iTunes is entirely superfluous to me, and making me download it is exasperating. And, Rhapsody's DRM is easily circumventable, since I can convert the files to CD, then pull them into Windows Media Player without DRM. I don't think that functionality exists in iTunes, which "some people" think is superior to all other online music stores. And, if I needed to import the music into an iPod/iPhone, I could just start with the CDs I exported from Rhapsody. Another boon: when an iPod/iPhone crashes (you actually only rent the hardware), I don't need to buy the content all over again; I just start with the CDs exported from Rhapsody. I've actually had to do that a few times when moving content to new computers. The only costs are the original music purchase, and the cost of backup CDs. The architecture is >unneeded in the free windows version. Not exactly. There are a number of features in iTunes that rely upon QuickTime for importing and transcoding music. You don't need the paid version for these features.
