Yes, Sue. The tables are what cause the problem selecting one letter or
word.

Do this...I just did it to your file and it worked fine.

Unprotect the file
Highlight all the rows in the table except the first one that contains the
headings
Go to the Table menu and select Convert>Table to Text
Make sure "Tab" is what is selected as the delimiter and click OK.
In my case, only one text field got misaligned...it was the third one in the
first row and it moved one space to the right, so I just clicked in front of
it and hit my backspace key to move it one space to the left
Protect the document again and type some text in one of the fields and try
selecting it...you will see it works fine when it's not in a table.

HOWEVER......if you have text in any field that is more than one line long,
you will see why the table was used in the first place because the text will
go to the next line, but will NOT stay within the column, and will move to
the left end of the next line.

Dian,

So, the only way to be able to copy/cut/paste text is to not use tables?
Or, can I simply leave it unprotected, and explain to her why it is that
way? This evening, I have talked to several other of our volunteers who
are as frustrated as I am with this situation--to the point where they
simply don't report in on the form. The form is simple enough that we
could easily do without being able to tab around a table. Only one
"incident" is allowed in a file...one date, one code descriptor and the
notes regarding the incident.
