In 2000, turning off protection blanks out the fields. This is the rant I was on in the previous "do I upgrade" thread. Since you're not supposed to open a document to mess with the fields, the fields are set to blank out in 6, 97, 97, 2000. But since folks thought opening it was a way to do, XP now allows you to open the fields without clearing them. Hence the developer must remember to clear them when testing. So, unless she add a toggle macro that includes the line of NoReset, the fields will be erased each time you open/close the field protection. SUE and DIAN >Very sorry for making you nuts<g>...but you are right and I was wrong. This option is NOT in 2000. I just double checked and I must have >reopened XP thinking I was in 2000 when I quickly checked the other day. It gets confusing with 4 version of Word on one system! Can I second this? I too was in XP and didn't realize the option was not in 2000 (I don't have Word 2000, just 97, 95, and XP). My question from last night still remains.... The template is not password protected, so why not just turn off the field protection, do your copy and paste and turn it back on? That would seem to solve the problem, without any other workaround. (Or is it a case of XP handles the form differently than 2000 and 2000 won't let you turn off the field protection?)
