Yes, it's the tables that causes the difference. If the fields are just
in a document without a table structure, then you CAN select text
within. And yes, I DO recommend tables, cos' they provide better
structure and help you create more professional looking forms cos' they
give you more design options.

And as I said, if the forms were designed better, you probably wouldn't
have to deal with copying.

Also know that the F4 key is Word's repeat key. So if you type something
and realize you have to type it again, if you don't do anything else
yet, you can just hit F4 and the whole sentence will retype FOR YOU.

Good luck!

I can imagine!! You have no idea how relieved I am that I was just not
too dumb to find it!

It's not a matter of having to copy/paste a lot of material. It's just
that if I want to reposition a paragraph or sentence, I have to
backspace or delete the whole text out and then retype it where it
belongs. As you could see, it is a fact-reporting form, and sometimes I
forget to add things in the correct sequence.

I know I'm ouchy about it, as I'm too used to the "reveal codes" in Word
Perfect, and have no intention of spending months learning to use Word
in my daily life. I had to learn WP in order to type legal briefs (part
of my daily life). But, our volunteer office refuses to learn to
convert from WP. I've been struggling all afternoon, trying to figure
out if there was some other way to gather this information using Word.

Is the problem the use of tables? I've printed off your instructions on
creating simple forms. In that, you suggest using tables.

I really do appreciate all your effort.
