Yes - from the DSP plugin POV. However, plugin (G)UIs must generate
gesture start/end events when appropriate, or hosts won't be able to
implement touch automation with custom GUIs in any useful way.
(This is assuming that GUIs are devices similar to DSP plugins,
connected to plugins directly, or through the host or some sequencer,
as needed. GUIs must also handle feedback from the automation to make
this work.)
