Hi, Maybe not where you are, but there is a lot of publicity about that here. There is a lot of publicity about ALL the different angles and people fighting, too. Within the Republican party, though--there are a lot of people who joined it who are not *really* Republicans (ie pro-big business) so that could also be an issue in the situation. There are a lot of them who joined because of 'moral issues' and there are a lot of people who are meeting that one head-on and discussing the issues of the poor, etc as just as moral an issue as the rest. And, they are making headway... (and how that impacts on immigration can go many different directions--all of which are being talked about...) But, are you also suggesting that the Democrats are in unison on their point of view about immigration? What, then, is that point of view? Or, at least, the California Democratic party point of view? (here there is division within the Democratic party on this issue, too--just as much as in the Republican party--which is, it is true, hugely divided on this issue. And it is very hard to put anyone in a partisan box here in regards to this issue...unlike things like abortion, etc.) Best, Marlena in Missouri
