Yes, it is possible to be armed with a gun and still lose in a knife fight.
But what this proves is that there are no guarantees in combat - as every
combat veteran knows. It's all the roll of the cosmic dice that determines
who lives and who dies. But having a gun when facing a knife wielder does
increase your odds considerably. Which is all you can hope for in battle.
