Correct. Theya re subject to the same Net Neutrality rules as fixed

Ironic. I'd call it karma. Tom Wheeler was well on his way to exempting
wireless, and even finding some other route than Title II. The courts stepped
in, people got super pissed, as they are doing again, and the rest is history.

"According to Quinn, that's also off-base. AT&T makes its sponsored-data
program available to all content providers on the same terms and conditions as
it does for DirecTV, he maintained. The rates the telco offers to third parties
are "as low as the market-based rates AT&T currently offers even to wireless
resellers who commit to significant purchase volumes," the AT&T exec wrote."
AT&T here appears to be doing the right thing, and I'm pretty sure that Title
II would not prevent any of it. Title II *should* prevent exclusive
arrangements. Still, if the result of these arrangements appears to be
exclusive, as they did in this case, then it should be the FCC's job to figure
out why. As they were correctly doing.
With the change of administrations, the FCC appears to have dropped
the issue, focusing instead on repealing the rules in question.
That's the problem with formula-thinkers, who even go so far as to use a
totally misleading name for their program, attempting to fool the public as to
their intentions. So, let me explain this to you, because it's quite simple.
The FCC now is only after the best interests of the special interests involved.
Undo any regulation, and allow the special interests to have free rein. Isn't
that exactly what this latest flap is caused by? This FCC couldn't care less,
if the broadband provider colludes with the content owner.
Electricity providers already do this. iI received a substantial rebate
on the cost of upgrading my air conditioning/heating system from our
local electric utility, GRU. This rebate is provided to qualified
installers who have signed up for the program (i.e. the retailers of
specific brands of AC equipment).
You're being disingenuous. These rebates are offered to those who install high
efficiency systems, NOT systems of a particular brand. If they were offered
only in collusion with a particular brand, you'd see a huge backlash, and law
suits.
I understand exactly what happened a century ago Bert.
Then please don't waste time dredging up this other canard about Tim Wu. The
concept of neutral infrastructures is ages old, and it has always been
motivated to promote interstate commerce.
Had to clip the repetitive rest of it.
Bert
