We checked the hills behind (south-west) of LCC Campus; mixed forest and 
cleared habitats.  A pair of Wrentits met us at the very start and we 
encountered many during the walk.  Descending abundance: waxwings, robins, 
Swainson's Thrushes, Steller's Jays.  Mostly quiet but pockets of activity.

California Quail - 1
Turkey Vulture - 1
Mourning Dove - 1
Vaux’s Swift - 6
Hummingbird  sp - 1
Northern Flicker - 6
Willow Flycatcher - 1
Western Wood Pewee - 1
Olive-sided Flycatcher - 2 (in area of cleared and remnant timber where we 
found them nesting the past 3 years)
Swallow sp - (a few high overhead most of the time, difficult to ID against 
overcast.)
American Crow - 4
Steller's Jay - 15
Western Scrub-Jay - 3
Hutton’s Vireo - 1 (in shabby plumage, barely an eyering or wingbars; revealed 
a yellow-green rump paler than rest of upperparts.)
Black-capped Chickadee - 16 (several families)
Chestnut-backed Chickadee - 2
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 2
Brown Creeper - 1
Bewick's Wren - 3
American Robin - (most abundant bird, next to waxwings)  40+
Swainson’s Thrush - 18 (pygmy-owl imitations initiated vocal responces from 
many around us) 
Wrentit - 12
Cedar Waxwing - (many circling flocks plus perching birds made counting 
impossible)
Black-throated Gray Warbler - at least 2
MacGillivray’s Warbler - 2
Wilson’s Warbler  - 2
Western Tanager - 6+
Black-headed Grosbeak - 3
Spotted Towhee - 12 (several immatures)
Song Sparrow - 6
Dark-eyed Junco  - 2
Purple Finch - 6
American Goldfinch - 10+
Lesser Goldfinch - 4
