And the API boilerplate is a single field in a struct, or something.
The 'negotiation' is:
Host: Hi, Plugin. What datatype are you?
Plug: Hullo! I'm an Int24 plug.
Host: Woops! This host is for Float32, only, sorry.
Substitute 'Mobile' and 'DAW' for 'Int24' and 'Float32' if you like.
