>>> My reasoning: Sub-modular synths, like SyncC modular, where you design your own filters, also support single-sample audio feedback (to make IIR Filters). Single-sample processing is beyond GMPI, therefore double precision comunication is also out of scope. <<< Why is single-sample processing beyond GMPI? If it lasts as long as MIDI has lasted, then you don't think in 5-10 years time we'll all be building systems -- on the desktop -- that have single sample latency? We'd better be... You've also neglected the ugly marketing reasons to allow support 64-bit, or indeed any other "exciting" new audio data types. Some non-GMPI (proprietary) plugin standard is going to move to whizzy audio format XYZ, and GMPI will then under market pressure to keep up. We need to at least have the design allow for extensibility on this front. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Generalized Music Plugin Interface (GMPI) public discussion list Participation in this list is contingent upon your abiding by the following rules: Please stay on topic.
