Maybe simply a posting on the Melco web site, say under "What's New"
http://www.melco-service.com/whatsnew.htm, where we can check in from time
to time to see what improvements there might be, referencing our serial
numbers, whether it be covered by warranty or a nice feature offered for a
price. This way we would do our part of the communicating and Melco could
hit all customers at one time, all the time, and generate more hits to their
website to boot.
How many of us have read Melco's web site front to back? There is some good
information in the Frequently Asked Questions section especially for
beginners.
From memory I can think of many improvements that have been implemented to
the Amayas over the past few years. And I'm sure many more are sure to come
in the following years. However if you aren't having troubles with the
machine you have, don't fix it if it ain't broke applies. Unless Melco
knows a part will eventually fail or give troubles unless the upgrade is
applied.
Now if it's simply an improved feature for the new year, then Melco can
offer it as an upgrade, if applicable, at a nominal cost to the customer.
The so called "Warranty Period" is supposed to be a time frame in which
the
machine should run as it was designed to. Once outside of the warranty
period, we are then responsible for repairs unless we opt for an "extended
warranty". Which of course comes with a price. But it's all that any
company can do to stay in business. I guess that's why it's called a
limited warranty. If you have a specific situation, I'm sure Melco will
work with you on it. Sometimes all you have to do is ask.

My machine is still under warranty too! I just had a tech out for service so
it would have been nice to have this upgrade at that time. That really chaps
my behind!!!! Maybe Jeff can shed some light on why we don't learn about
these upgrades that are available while our machines are still under
warranty. Maybe a policy change at Melco. I'm not sure I'm happy about
having to ask for something I feel I should be notified about. Communication
is such a key element and it's good customer service too as far as I'm
concerned. Anyone know anything more about this???
