Wendy,
No, I don't think that the upgrade has a cost associated with it.
Before I
became a tech, we had ours upgraded when we sent our machine back to the
factory for an overhaul. It was all at no cost to me other than my down
time of two months.
Let's make sure we are describing it correctly. You say it's flat
across
the bottom. All presser feet should be flat at the bottom. Did you mean
it's solid metal at the lowest point of the foot where it flares out to it's
widest width- meaning that it doesn't have a hole drilled through the foot
front to back just behind the needle?
I just like to make sure incase others reading this missed the post
describing the upgraded presser foot. The hole not only indicates the
upgraded part but also makes the presser foot that much lighter for high
speeds.

Ed,
I purchased my machine in September of '03. Looks like I have the old style
foot, flat across the bottom. Do you know if upgrades are at no cost or do
we pay?
