  i like this idea, with the player being able to 'research' roles wich 
are currently unknown to him. the idea of books also seems to make the 
whole system easier to understand for players -- ie : they may not know 
about the "Necromancy" skill, but they know there is a book of 
necromancy, and so they can deduce that they can research that skill.

  i only disagree in one area -- the player should be able to see what 
skills/levels are needed to 'read' the book.
