I like this type of Leveling up:

First of all you get a XP of killing things this you use to set to etc
Dex, Str, Vit, Mag. This numbers is the key of Damage, To hit%, Mana,
Life, Stamina and so on. But not the use of wepons and magic.

Skills:

The skills is what desides if you going to use a wepon, magic. The
Higher skill the better wepon the more damage. But still if you have a
high XP but low skill then a Dagger can make good damage. But not such
as a bastard or longsword. When using magic you automatly Higher your
skill and get after a time to set a skill point to the Magic skill "can
be a spell or use of wands so on". If using a Bow you get skills of that
and using swords you will be better on that. This will make a character
that will be able to be multiclass. But must consentrating the XP and
set it to whatever he planing to make a character. If you Gather skills
in magic and put your points in Str. then you get a bad character.

This is a mix of Dungeon siegs and diablo. And the Damage rolls will be
like etc Icewind dale.
