I am sure I have not been missed with all these exciting posts being emailed
on this list. I'm just preoccupied with getting my house back in shape.
However, every now and then I do read some of them, one of which is Evan's.
He is able to put into words that others may just be thinking. Ditto on this
one below. It's a good one, Evan. Wonder how many of you have Houston in
your pedigree?

I would be against this. I remember a dog named Houston. We would have
lost
him to the breed, had this been required. It should be up to the breeders
who and how to breed better animals. When you start to limit the gene pool
with restrictions, you are just saying that those doing the work don't know
what
they are doing, and need to be led by the nose.
If only OFA dogs were bred, we would still have hip problems. More laws
don't stop problems, they just make them easier to punish. It always
sounds
great to make a law or demand ethics. It hasn't worked throughout history,
and
it won't work now.
Honesty, ethics, intelligence, and fairness are personal traits best left
up
to those called on to show them. How they respond will reflect on their
success.
