Can't go by Labs. It is the most popular single breed in the country,
but most of them are pets or exclusively hunting dogs, and they don't
even approach show quality. That may be the case with Shepherds, too,
insofar as most of the registered dogs are not show quality...I don't
know...but it takes 100 labs to make 5 points where I live...how many
German Shepherds does it take?
I don't think the number of dogs registered has anything to do
with entries. Look at how specialty entries have declined in our
breed. That isn't the case with the breeds that are called "elitist" if
we are to judge them by their Codes of Ethics. Poodles, Pembroke Welsh
Corgis, and any others..........
The other breeds increase in show entries in the conformation
area...we do not. Registration numbers have nothing to do with it.
However, it is true that the contract won't change the unscrupulous
breeders. So...why all the objections, then?
