Hello,

What a nice coincidence. I am searching for templates that will allow me to make my own photo web page. I did a Google search and it is not lack of templates. But how do I go about evaluating them as to whether they meet my needs. So if I can be specific, in a general way.

Over the past several years, I have had a number of exhibits, solo and group. People always ask, Can I see your other Photos, so basically what I need is a web portfolio. Since I photograph around themes and stories, what I have is a story board composed of photographs that tell a story, I use the the term lightly, but there is a a thread that connects all the photos and makes each photo an integral part of the whole. For example, my last exhibit two years ago was titled, <Le Cercle Sacré / The Sacred Circle> 38 photos in all, with a begining and an end, of sorts. What I need, is for the person to be able to go to the home page, that has a title "My Home Page" with one of my photos (2/3 of page, 1/3 is a menu, personal info, Gallery, Links, New, Exhibits, Contact and a few other odds and ends that I can't think of right now. If the person clicks on "Gallery, that takes the person to a menu of all the themes/ stories, <Le Cercle Sacré/ The Sacred Circle.>, <Immigrant>, clicking on <Immigrant>, brings up the first page of the story, I'm not sure, Text, just the title, then a next arrow to take the person to the next photo in the sequence, a "previous arrow" and "menu" buttom in the lower corner, what else, the possibility of writing text on the page with the photo, title of Photo in in the sequence, "Pilgrim 1"....."Sentier 3.... and so on and so forth. Also the possiblity of displaying non-thematic photos. But I don't want gaudy, or a picture album style format, I prefer mute and understated, nothing to distract from the photo. Also the possibility of framing/border for the photo.

You mention making changes to the site, frequent, infrequent, for me there would be the initial story upload for the gallery and upload evertytime I do another story board. But I would like to be able to post a photograph of camera I just bought so that the members of the camera colecting group can have a look at it, or put up a particular photo for a short period...

Knowledge; does that mean knowing how to program in HTML, I imagine a template does require a certain number of rudimentary knowldge but with a short learning curve. I do not want to get into PhotoShop and spent the rest of my.... I have a wet darkroom. But I imagine there is always something that you have to learn to do something that is new.

Audio is a possiblity, Bach's unaccompanied cello suites, comes to mind, but not a neccesity. But nice to have. Another Gallery can have RAMMSTEIN playing. :)

Is there anything else?????

Cheers,
Bogdan

Dave,
When you say photographic your range is pretty broad. Questions that are relevant include: what is the purpose, how often will it change, what is
your knowledge/interest.

I'm looking for ideas how to build a photographic web site. Should I hire someone to do it or buy software or what suggestions have you? Thanks.

Hello,

I had recently my web site " http://www.danielbouzard.com/"; made by a small company under my direction to get exactly what I wanted. Now I can update the site very easily for exemple add new series and change the " photo du mois" in few seconds. It is very convenient and there is no cost each month for updating. Daniel
