Hi, unclerichard,

I'm interested in what you have said in your response to my Linux
enquiry. However, there are a few points that arise in my mind, and I
would like to discuss them with you, if I may.

I have been trying to get Knoppix to run on my machine, but it refuses
to go further than the opening screen, and I am of the opinion that the
disc may be at fault. It is from the Oct 2002 PC World. It is not
complete, I know.

I am still unsure of which distribution to go for, and I am wondering
whether I could run Linux on my second hard drive, or whether a
partition is necessary. I have a 16 and an 8 gig HDD. 857 Athlon
processor 256ram and running WinMe. Does that make it any easier for
you to suggest the most suitable dist.

Finally, I wonder, could I telephone you at some convenient time for
you? I'm not far away, I'm in Pukekohe. I'll not be offended if you
don't want to, but if you're happy to, send me your number, and a
suitable day/time. As I'm a pensioner, any time at all suits me.

Thanks a lot,

Sincerely

Rick Holmes
