As I understand it all of the services MUGLO requires are available for free: 
web/mail hosting, use of the Library, volunteers to manage these things. So 
there's no need to collect money. If there's no money involved it seems like an 
overly formal structure is not required.

I suppose I keep banging on about Google Groups because they're intended to be 
used by a group, while a me.com account is not.

That said, if all we need is a fairly static web page with some boilerplate 
about the meeting schedule and a link to the mailing list manager I don't 
suppose it matters as there won't be group interaction with the web stuff as 
such.

This sounds like a good idea, if all the committee structure does is to remind 
a bunch of people to be enthusiastic about organizing a meeting then it will 
have done something :) Though as I seem to keep finding myself committed to be 
out of town when there is a meeting scheduled I won't volunteer to be on it.---
