As MS essentially set the Aces team adrift after FSX came out and then closed the studio in 2009 I'm not sure what their plan is. One thing they clearly avoid saying is that Microsoft Flight is related to the earlier simulators so I presume it is not a follow on from FSX but a separate game. Their word as they avoid using "simulator" for the product. MS are still working on Microsoft Flight (latest news was June 2011) but I can't decode the yukspeak statement they issued. Quote - "With "Microsoft Flight" we're approaching the virtual flight genre from the ground up, with the focus on the universal appeal of the experience of Flight. We believe the simplicity of "Microsoft Flight" perfectly captures that vision while welcoming the millions of existing Flight Simulator fans. The new "Microsoft Flight" retains the full fidelity simulation longtime fans have come to expect while offering all players a whole new look and feel, a wide range of new game play and challenges, persistent experiences and social connectivity." They say it's simple but retains the fidelity fans are used to and I don't know what that means. The bit about social connectivity, game play and challenges only makes me think it is more about interactive gameplay and therefore following the format for almost all currently popular games. bones bones@xxxxxxx http://woodair.net From: jhb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jhb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Frank Turley Sent: 10 August 2011 07:02 To: jhb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jhb] Re: FS Scenery Not absolutely positive about this, but I think the version 1 came in 2 flavours, FSX and FS2004, but they got the updates onto a single set. I guess you need to install the version 1, followed by the updates. This all happened years ago............ There's been rumours of FSX11 coming later this year, I guess you will be getting that going in another 7 years time, I'm reminded of the 2 Ronnies sketch where they did Mastermind, with the answers lagging one behind the questions! Before I do so can I check that I'm not throwing away the wrong boxes? First is the four box set of Visual Flight photo scenery - John's original release. I assume this was replaced or improved by Horizon GenX and that it isn't worth installing. Next is the Horizon scenery but it is puzzling me. I seem to have the original GenX three disk set but the boxes say this is for FSX only. I also have the GenX V.2 disk set which claims it is compatible with FS2004 as well as FSX. If the latter is true then I see no reason the install the original set and should also throw the original GenX DVD's away too. Is this correct or are there any solid reasons for installing the Visual Flight scenery again or the Generation X V.1 scenery? As to flight sim itself I presume there isn't any problem installing FS2004 and then FSX -or would it be better doing it the other way round? I seem to recall the FSX install was reported to mess up any FS2004 links.. bones bones@xxxxxxx http://woodair.net <http://woodair.net/> No virus found in this message.
