Like Mike, I've an idea he's now with Horizon / Playsims. He was, as you say, dumped by Horizon, who then did the same to Darren, after he'd got his ideas into product form for them. After being ditched he had problems getting it accepted that parts of what they were using were his property. Subsequently he managed to set up ES and produces much better work than his ex employer, though with a smaller geographical photoscenery area available to him. He did in fact manage to gain an MOD contract that his former boss was holding at the time.
Whatever happened to the bandit who used to turn up at the flightsim shows in airline uniform?

I still feel Mally got dropped on from a big height when Horizon took over the photo scenery development. I hope he is doing enough to survive now as he gave up full time work to develop the VFR scenery. I still find his web page at http://www.visualflight.co.uk/photoscenery/ but most of the links seem dead. bones bones@xxxxxxx http://woodair.net -----Original Message----- From: jhb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jhb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mike Brook Sent: 10 August 2011 18:17 To: jhb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jhb] Re: FS Scenery .... but, luckily, the 'Darren' from the 'VFR Project' days is the same 'Darren' who currently runs EarthSimulations! I have a feeling that Mally is still lurking somewhere in the background of Horizon/EarthSims but he has yet to stick his head above the parapet so I can't confirm ... I've just found the IoM files I submitted for the project but they needed reworking because all the trees defaulted to conifers. AgenT should have sorted this out but that's when the PC died and I never finished the work. Oddly enough I've just found the UK VFR Library PDF showing all the 3D objects Darren build and it's a sobering reminder just how many cars, ships, houses and general objects he made. It's a shame the UK VFR site closed down. bones bones@xxxxxxx http://woodair.net -----Original Message----- From: jhb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jhb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Gerry Winskill Sent: 10 August 2011 16:58 To: jhb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jhb] Re: FS Scenery Now Treescapes is definitely worth having. I assume this was replacedorimproved by Horizon GenX and that it isn't worthinstalling.Next is the Horizon scenery but it is puzzling me. Iseem tohave the original GenX three disk set but the boxessay thisis for FSX only. I also have the GenX V.2 disk setwhichclaims it is compatible with FS2004 as well as FSX.If thelatter is true then I see no reason the install theoriginalset and should also throw the original GenX DVD'saway too.Is this correct or are there any solid reasons for installing the Visual Flight scenery again or theGenerationX V.1 scenery? As to flight sim itself I presume there isn't anyprobleminstalling FS2004 and then FSX -or would it bebetter doingit the other way round? I seem to recall the FSXinstall wasreported to mess up any FS2004 links.. bones bones@xxxxxxx http://woodair.net<http://woodair.net/> No virus found in this message.
